Dove shaving soap Vs. Arko shaving soap

Dove Shaving Soaps or Arko Hard Shaving Soaps

  • Arko

  • Dove

First of all, you make it sound like Dove actually makes a shaving soap, which they don’t.
But feel free to prove me wrong.

I am aware that some people use Dove to shave with (I once shaved with a Valobra hand soap that was clearly not intended for shaving), but given a choice I’d rather use Arko products that are intended for shaving.

Secondly, as I can have excellent shaving soaps (Ach. Brito Musgo, Mogno) for less than €5.50 ($6.00), I would rather use one of those.

Lastly, considering the subject, I believe this thread would be better off in another Forum.
We do have a Shaving Soaps and Shaving Creams sub-forum, you know.

Given all that, I rather abstain…

Eco choice? As if one random person can save the planet, yeah sorry but I really don't believe in the whole climate nonsense. Last time I checked, almost everything that's for sale at my local supermarket has a plastic package. They should start with the manufacturers who use plastic for everything.

Oh ofc sucha huge soap manufacturer has it's own shaving line, as it's shown above (just a few of them) but the main question is can they compete with manufacturers who mainly produce shaving products?

I would not consider Dove Men+Care a dedicated shaving soap, and I believe Dove does not have its own shaving line. This is my opinion and I could be wrong.
I have never tried their "Body, Face & Shave Bar Soap".

Interesting…

They may show a cartridge style razor symbol on the packaging, but when I went to the Dove website (https://www.dove.com/us/en/p/men-care-extra-fresh-body-and-face-bar.html/00011111012080), I did not find any meaningful information that relates to the shaving qualities of these products.

Do you have a link that leads to a Dove site where we can find information as to how Dove describes the qualities and benefits of these products in relation to shaving?

Searching for “shaving” on the Dove website, I found under “How to shave a beard” this little gem of wisdom that Dove has to offer: “The most important thing you can do is shave in the same direction your hair grows.” :w00t:
Who could argue with such sound advice from a shaving specialist like Dove? :001_cool:

As far as your recently asked main question is concerned; if it is a quality product it should be easy for such large companies to compete.
Think of Nivea, Palmolive, Ach. Brito, La Toja, and even Gillette*…

P.S.
Darn; had to go back three times to correct “Dovo” into “Dove”. :facep:

No, basically their packaging claiming that these versions are shaving friendly too.

I use this brand to shower with, and it’s one of the few soaps I can buy that doesn’t dry my skin out in the winter time. But I prefer Arko or Chella to shave with. Never tried to shave with Dove.

Anything Dove soaps are they for damn sure don't stink to high heaven unlike Arko's, no insults to Arko fans tho I'm an Arko fan myself but of the creams not the hard soap.

I won't use anything that is mostly detergents and surfactants, and I don't use anything that has SLES in it. So it's a hard no from me, no matter how cheap it is.

One could go to a place like Soapy Science and get a 5-oz puck of fantastic shave soap for about 20 bucks. One can get nearly 200 great shaves out of this soap, maybe even more if you load carefully.

Or you could get What the Puck? soaps from Italian Barber/Razorock that are triple milled, can be had for 5-6 bucks, don't have SLES in them, and will last for 150-200 shaves, as well.
