Ah, well if this is supposedly due to tolerances, that strikes me as fairly loose! No, last V2 version recently bought

I do very much agree with you here.I recently purchased the 6c - amazing value - I like aggressive shaves - so using my other razors as a comparison plate 6 on the Rockwell gives me a very close shave - similar ATT S2 (my favourite), not as aggressive as Merkur future/progressive on setting 6. Base plate 1/2 very mild - plate 3 and you're in the shaving territory of Merkur 34c / DE89. What I do like is you can change the baseplate according to your prep - if I'm in a hurry I may use a 3 - going up to 6 depending on time I have /closeness I want.
I do very much agree with you here.
Plate 3 is pretty much DE89/34C territory, and plate 4 is a nice little bump up.
I'm beginning to think rather than the ubiquitous advice to a beginner to start with a DE89 or Merkur 34C, if they bump their budget from 35 to 50 USD they can have a Rockwell 6C. They can start very mild for a shave or three, then go to the middle ranges, and eventually try the more aggressive plates as they become experienced. Plus I think having different plates to play around with, would give a newbie a more interesting and enjoyable learning experience, and might keep them satisfied for a longer time before they get the RAD itch.

Thank you!Pretty good advice.
My sentiments exactly. The shave, to my face, is identical, but the 6C feels better in the hand and looks better to boot. I've had both, but when I got the 6C, the 6S went onto the sale block and the 6C into rotation. To be honest though the lighter 92g 6c feels better balanced and looks a lot prettier.
Really if I had to choose only one it would be the 6c.
This is such a good razor I’d get both.I just read this entire thread and still can’t decide whether to buy a 6S or 6C!!
Last month they had a 20% off promotion, so the 6C was only $40. That said, I recommend you buy it for $45. There might be a future 20% promotion, but it's worth $5 to have it now. I wasn't sure that I would like it, as I thought I preferred lighter razors, but I haven't been tempted to use anything else since I started using the 6C.I see that coupon code PERFECTSHAVE gives you 10% off, free shipping and a free 100 pack of Rockwell blades.
Is this the best promotion available? $45 grand total for the Rockwell 6C

I started with Plate 3 for a few shaves but soon moved to Plate 4. Maybe some day I'll try Plate 5, but for me #4 is a great choice for daily shaving. I have a tendency to develop irritation on my neck if I shave daily with a very aggressive razor, like my Fatip Zebrano. Plate 4 is as close as the Fatip without any irritation.Which baseplates do you utilize?
