I have one of the old stamping blocks they used to print the boxes of these things with around here somewhere. Never gotten to use the hone. Let us know how it works.

I have one like yours. When lapped very fine and conditioned it's a pretty good hone of that type.
It's a touch up hone, not a finishing stone - it's pretty fast and you'll need a good bit of stropping to get smoothness back in the picture.
When that b-hone is set up nice, it'll certainly do better than 'maintain' a Norton 8k edge.
IME/IMO - visual inspections of edges off b-hones borders on pseudo-science. I've not been able to accurately judge or make comparisons of those hones without actually shaving with those edges. Even then, technique with using the hone and other variables affect the final outcome. I say - test it and see how far you can go with it. You may be plesantly surprised.
Or not - depends on how much effort you put into it I think.
Remember;
Some of the ugliest bevels shave wonderfully & Many pristine bevels turn out horrible shaves.
