I like to use hickory and a fruit such as apple and cherry. Since my smoker varies temps I shoot for 225F. That gives me a good buffer against burning the sugar.

That's probably closer to the temp I'm getting. I use apple juice and a bit of rub to mop when I add fuel/flavor.

"Good" can have a variety of meanings, and goodness admits itself to degrees. I say wobbly or not you can still be considered "good." I'm in, great PIF.
