What's new

Post your local/flea market stone scores. (There's none left. Tim found them all.)

Old Pike logo confirmed.
Cool stone!

Thanks! I can see it now. Wow. I'm plussed!
One question though for you guys , if you say it's a pike stone that's cool , but , even the pike picture says made in USA , but, you said the stone clearly says Belgian on it then how can this be ? If it's Belgian how can it be an Arkansas stone ? Am I missing something ? Honestly I don't see the logos being the same. I don't see the circle enclosing a hexagonal 'star'. Or The words 'IMPORTED BELGIAN RAZOR stone on the pike that's pictured to confirm what it is... Were there no other stones that had a fish logo ? I'm not doubting, I'm just curious....

It’s 100% a Belgian coticule with the Pike logo. The pic that Shaun posted is a hard Arkansas stone. Different stone, similar logo. I’ve seen Pike Branded Belgian stones that say made in the USA. Not sure what that was about but they are definitely coticules imported from Belgium.

Pike coticule box.

Sorry for the confusion, I only wanted to show that it was indeed the Pike logo.
Your stone looks like a Coticule.
No arks in our soil, and it's definetly not a salm or a bbw.

Thanks for the info. I am still trying to learn all this stuff and was generally curious.....

Your post was clear to me. I saw it was an Arkansas box, but the pike poking thru the P immediately confirmed for me what I was seeing in the center of the logo on the stone.

Now I just have to find a cheap superfine, extra choice, or extra choice select. 8" would be nice. I guess Pike was all over freedom of consumer choice, even before we all became "consumers".

"Look what I found"
Best weekend of picking since before pandemic, and the snowbirds aren’t even back yet. A Smorgasbord of hones, a mixed grouping of mostly finishers. Two Coticules, 8” natural and a 5” with stamps. Two 5” Trans Arks, one a Slip Stone. Two Thuringains, a 8” Escher and a small Droescher Hohenzollern Abziehstein with Rubber in wooden box. Two beauties, a #1 Washita and a Norton Razor Hone with its user directions. Both look unused or very low mileage, no chips, flea bites, or sign of wear

"Look what I found"
Hit a living estate sale last week for a woodworker and came home with some nice tribute. Three washita’s, two 8” translucent relics along with a 6” Norton #1 and a 2.5x5 Coticule. I nice haul from the old timer who used them for decades

@captaincaed Your virtue is intact

It does have the potential to be a hootenanny. There is also tonnage in other areas of collecting. I have thousands of pounds of cast iron cookware along. Don’t no one get your plane tickets yet. The results of SWMBO putting quinoa and kale in my feed bag, I be around for a long time. Until I assume room temperature, I will continue to be a scourge at the flea markets. After this cup of coffee is done, off we go to the happy place

On a side note, slow day at the market yesterday. In stone land, only took home a 7” coticule and a 2.5x5 BBW that lost its mate
