What's new

My new pipe making toy.....

I hear you and I tried to turn wood on the metal lathe and I just struggled to get what I wanted out of it. I tend to do better with free hand tools on the wood lathe for wood parts. I would love to get a quality cross slide tool post for my wood lathe, but can't seem to find anyone who makes one.
If i knew what exactly what you were looking for I'd help look. :)

Just imagine a the cross slide mechanism on a metal lathe adapted to a wood lathe. I saw one I would love to have on an online video. I contacted the guy. He had it made at a custom machine shop for about a billion $. When I have time, I'm going to try to adapt a cross slide for a drill press to mount on the banjo.

Your new lathe inspired me to do something with my old lathe. So I made a bowl/cup. First time trying a bowl.

A hacksaw and a file are the basics that need to be mastered.

Looks like you are doing well, Grasshopper.
This is true. My dad could fix most things with a hammer and a screwdriver.

Throw in a pliers and he could fix everything!

Miss that old fart. We are almost entirely running out of that Great Generation...
