Lavanda Shaving Cream Supply Situation

For many insiders, Ach. Brito Lavanda (Lavender) shaving cream is a low cost alternative to the rather pricey Musgo Real shaving creams that are also produced under the umbrella of Ach. Brito.

You may have noticed that recently the Lavanda shaving cream has been difficult to find.
Eve here in Portugal supermarkets that used to carry it and even the Ach. Brito factory store are out of stock.

As some shaving creams produced next door in Spain have recently disappeared, I have contacted Ach. Brito to inquire whether they were discontinuing the Lavanda shaving cream. (Lavenda bath/toilet soap, shaving foam, and EdC are still available.)

They responded quickly and wrote:

Good afternoon,

Further to your email we would like to thank you for your contact and interest in our Lavender shaving cream.
Unfortunately, due to a problem with the filling machine of the shaving cream, it has been out of stock and we have not yet been able to restore the situation.

We hope to have this situation regularised by the end of September, both in terms of the supply of our own channels and in the supply of our partners.

Thanks for sharing that, @Brutus. I think Lavanda availability has always been sporadic, so I wasn’t worried about it, but with all the other discontinuations and reformulations we’ve seen lately it is good to have the reassurance.

Ach. Brito and Claus Porto are just brands belonging together. I highly doubt that they have a completely different production line for the Musgo Real stuff. So whatever happens to Lavanda should also to certain extent happen to their higher priced offerings.

From their response it seems that a part on the filling machine broke/went bad and that it’s a specialty item that replacement parts may only be made on an as needed basis and they had to special order it

Update.

Lavanda shaving cream is back in stock in the Ach. Brito (factory) store: Homem | Barbear – AchBrito – Loja dos Sabonetes - https://achbrito.com/pt/categoria-produto/barbear/

Ach. Brito also mentions that they use Fedex to ship to the US, so Ach. Brito seems to have lifted earlier restrictions regarding shipping to countries outside the EU, but keep in mind that products containing alcohol still are excluded due to (air transport) dangerous goods regulations.

If you should order, give the Musgo shaving soap (round white puck) a try. It is on special at the moment and punches way above its weight. It needs to be used regularly (like MWF) or kept in a container with lid though or it may develop cracks.

I suppose, the usual suppliers will receive fresh supplies of Lavanda shaving cream in due time.

For Canucks, fendrihan.ca (Ach Brito Lavanda Shaving Cream - https://www.fendrihan.ca/products/ach-brito-lavanda-shaving-cream) has it already in stock (CDN$11), the fendrihan.com (US) site seems to be lagging a bit behind, just like Italian Barber.
