Newbie question: Does the Aristocrat offer a better shave or is it just a matter of aesthetics? Thanks.

For my taste the original balances nicer than the Gen3
love my #16 had it for ten years and always thought it gold plated due to the handle and bottom plate(how would that even wear?!?) being goldish. it had tiny pitting on the doors so I took some 2000 grit to it and realized it was already to the brass. just now thinking it was rhodium plated as it does have a bit of silver on the the top plate. talk about plate loss.
I like the British versions more than the American, but shavewise I don't find a huuuuge difference. Some are a bit smoother while others are a bit more efficient. At some point I might add an oc as well, but they are hard to come by and most of all - very expensive, but i'm in no rush and I can wait.
My other Aristocrats started complaining for not being in this thread. So they are.

Mine is lost as they don't get used anymore as i use straights nowadays
Well, my favorite shaver is the 4th gen, strongly followed by the 1st and then 3rd. The 2nd somehow is rougher on me.
