Forum newbie checking in from the greater St. Louis area.

Started wet-shaving with a straight during university (15ish years) under the guidance of a faculty advisor (philosophy departments, eh?). Enjoyed it many years then allowed the grind of life, a couple of moves, and the need for expediency to slowly eat away at my routines.

After a few years away it is time to make self-care a priority, and rekindle the enjoyment I found in wet-shaving (and those few minutes of solace).

Current arsenal includes:
  • Dovo en Vogue, 5/8
  • A partially restored Wade & Butcher, 5/8 (great shaver, not really pretty to look at)
  • Two Gillette Super Speeds
  • Gillette Fatboy
  • Vikings Blade Chieftain
Looking to learn what has changed (or hasn't), seek advice as I find my form again (DE shaving is new to me; the Gillettes were my grandfather's), maybe find guidance to fully restore the W&B, and perhaps have a few laughs with some like-minded folks.

All the best out there,

Welcome from the Texas Gulf Coast. I had physics professors in college who smoked cigars and pipes, they started me on that journey. Best of luck with the return to wet shaving. A fine assortment of razors you have.
