This might be an interesting and informative project, with the centenary of the Gem 1912 design coming up. Let's see just how many variations of the Gem 1912 we can identify.
I've noted a few detail variations in the photo below, but there are many more variations in detail that I do not have photos of.
If you have some Gem 1912s, or variations of them (Star, Ever-Ready, Treet, etc.) try and get some good clear close ups of them. Front, Back, "under the hood" - I think it'd be interesting to see how many variations we can identify.
I've already posted these photos before, but I'll just start the thread by posting some of the photos I have of 1912s.
Travel 1912, short handle, short head, curved blade cover. bent blade clip, etc.
Gem 1912, ornate handle, bevelled blade cover, straight blade clip, etc.
Back of a Gem Junior head.
Damaskeene, "Gem Cutlery Co" on back. Bevelled blade cover.
There are also variations in the thumb clip on the blade cover, variations in the "comb", etc. I'm hoping to see some interesting variations. Heck you might have a rare variation and not even know it, the 1912 was changed so many times over its production life.
If you know of other details that underwent evolution on the 1912, mention them here so we all know what to look for.
