Hello there fellow B&B wetshaving aficionados!

This SOTD week is a little different and I personally really enjoy digging thru the den finding appropriate shaving gear for this SOTD theme…

As many of us are doing a little fall cleaning (or Spring cleaning in the Southern Hemisphere) amd maybe getting ready for the upcoming couple of months of holiday and family events, so let’s give the shaving gear that we aren’t super fond of one last chance.

Does that mean I will force myself to re-try the stanky Arko soap, my awful Razorock synth brush, my terrible Merkur and Shaverboy blades and my face killing Parker slant razor? Maybe. Ok, yes! Yes, I will. 🤞

Before you bin, sell or trade your unwanted soaps, blades, razors, brushes and aftershaves, why not give them one last chance? Maybe you will fall in love with something you previously hated. Thank or hate me later. 🤪

So let’s see those Derby blades, Yaqi razors, drugstore Wilkinson Sword soaps and synth brushes and lovely scents like The Veg (god forbid!). 😱

Have some fun with it this week and you just might fall in love again with some hidden gems in your dens.

Being creative and having fun IS mandatory as usual. Sticking with the theme is NOT mandatory. Feel free to post any SOTD photo or just tell us about your shave.

Lets see lots of pics this week!

Went to the Pasteur's meetup over the weekend and was able to meet the owner of HC&C, really nice guy. He had two new releases with him, Cosmic Gentleman and Alone?. After smelling both about 2 dozen times I decided on this one.

Amazing scent, awesome base, and great owner, Hendrix Classics & Co. really deserves it's place amongst the best soap artisans. Give them a try if you haven't yet already!

(If this is too long for your reading you can skip of course or even if it was shorter you can always skip, this is just my thoughts after a shave :001_smile)

I have not used the New LC with the Tmeless Ti Crown in quite a while, I like the pairing, works well for me.

The London Bridge Super Stainless (Vintage made in England by Wilkinson Sword) was sharp and smooth, works well in this razor, it did for me, very happy with it.

This Zenith 502 Turquoise Pure Manchurian Badger was my first time using it. I really like the brush, the handle, the shape of the handle, the way it fits in my hand, it was quite a delight to use. I really do like the bloom of the brush, I really do. The site I bought it off of has it with a 27mm knot and 55mm loft, based on the just me using a measuring tape (the kind used for measuring bodies) the loft was 55mm and knot was what they said, 27mm so the measurements were accurate. This is what I wanted so I am glad it turned out that way.

This brush had soft tips, really good backbone, I did not detect any scritch at all. It did not quite have the scrub of the SV 2.0, I'd say a bit of scrub, just a bit but not nearly as much as the SV 2.0. I can say that for sure. I would say that scrub wise there is only a bit where the SV 2.0 had some, this is just me and of course the way I perceive it. So by no means is the Zenith Pure Manchurian a scrubby brush in my eyes however with the great backbone, ability to splay, ease of lather release, and the great bloom and specs it had it was really enjoyable to use, I really liked it all around, I really did.

I am by no way a badger aficiando but I will say that I expected this to have less scrub, which it did, but it was a really enjoyable brush to use. I am really happy with this brush and the way it turned out. I loaded enough product, plenty really, got enough for 3 plus passes, again really like 4 and had lather leftover to do more if I wanted to when I was done.

The SV Manna Di Sicilia soap and aftershave, I really enjoy it, I really do. The scent and the post shave feel was great.

My 1st pass WTG, 2nd pass WTG/XTG with touch ups, 3rd pass ATG with some more touch up after leaving me a very nice DFS+/BBS with no cuts, nicks, weepers or irritation or I should say very little to the point where I call it zero.

I was really happy with the shave and am really happy with the Zenith Manchurian brush, from the specs to feel to use. Glad I got it.

COMMENT: I dug out this old slant of mine. Always had mixed feelings about it.
Really want to love it:
idea is great (retro-replica), look is great, audio-feedback is great, weight is great, shave is ... mediocre, quite consistently ..!. :concern:
Today was no exception.
Hard to put a finger on what is going on, but I think its the clunky head that makes it very difficult for me to properly shave all the hard spots.
It's a beautiful little razor though, isn't it ...! I think Fine nowadays only makes it in machined aluminum (at a premium price), I wonder if that shaves any better. Anyone in the know..?

After using the Henson Ti with the Kai blade for the 7th consecutive day, I switched to the AL** version loaded with a Personna Medical Prep blade. The result was an excellent shave. Today’s brush is the Shavemac 177 badger brush I won in a Sue Auction several years ago. Another excellent badger brush. I am continuing my journey with MdC soap: this is the 262nd shave with it. A nice BBS shave. Have a good day and week, folks.

MMMonday, October 23 2023. MicroMatic Monday thread, use any ASR razor that uses a Gem blade any day of the week welcomed.

Razor : Gem Junior bar lather catcher- Mfg in 1907-11, mild range. Very nice ornate detail on base plate with the "G" in the middle with nice scrolling on the backside. This antique razor still performs well with a new Gem blade and will last for generations with a little care. This is what folks used at the turn of the century, considered state of the art shaving technology. Had a great close comfortable shave with this Gem of a razor.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (3) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock American barber, nice unique cologne linear scent 7-8/10 with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi " Casino clubs" 26mm Timberwolf knot, excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Very over all excellent brush for my shave needs. 26mm brushes are some of the best .
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock American barber with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : 1-10 dial - Copy (2)3 template 9.5.1.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Gem Jr bar lather catcher with a coated Gem blade.
