The 2024: 1-Blade, 1-Week, *Daily Shaving Adventure

I don't remember exactly though, it seems to me that I had already asked you this....
Do you liken Treet King to Russian Voskhod blades for cutting quality?

I actually like the Voshods a lot as well, they are also among my absolute favorites but the last one I used was about a year ago and yes now they are unavailable in Italy and cost too much about currently 22€ for 100 blades on Amazon. Yes I too find the Treet King blades too underrated.

I don't remember either, so let's go with it...

I wondered upon the Voshkod's a few years back, when they were very reasonably priced.

I too, developed a fondness for them and likened them to a "value-menu" version of the GSB. Fortunately, I was able to stock up on them before their price went through the roof.

I consider the Treet King a replacement for the Voshkod, both in performance and price.

For anyone looking for a quality all around blade under $10, the King would be a top recommendation from me.

There's some speculation from members here that Treet has discontinued most of their blades, including the King. This is primarily based upon Treet only listing 4 blades on their website currently.

Stock up while you can. My two favorite Treets, the Platinum and the Dura Sharp, seems to have survived this purported purging, so I am good.

I don't think so, on Treet Corporation's website currently only four types of blades appear Treet Platinum, Treet Dura Sharp, Treet New Steel, Treet Carbon Steel, no others.
If this were so in addition to disappearing the Treet King and Falcon blades should also disappear the Treet Classic and Treet 7 Days which do not appear on their web page, all this seems strange to me.
Also in more recent times ,although it has already been at least four or five years, new blades such as Tjax,Tez, Super Power, Trim were introduced in these years I have never seen them on their site.

They probably put on their website the ones that have more market demand or the razor blades that they also sell mainly on e-commerce stores like Alibaba and Daraz.

There was a gentleman who commented in this thread a while back writing that Treet's customer service had replied that many Treet blades are the same quality.

This time I'll not bother for Mr. Qudoos to ask for information, after so many months he never responded to my previous emails.

I just noticed this thread and this is exactly what I have been doing for the past 6 months. I was strictly using Indian Astra SP's and Dorco Primes and on a drunken Saturday night I ghostly ordered 29 different tucks from Razor Blade Club. $78 later, I have been going through a blade a week. I have discovered some hidden gems and some hyped up blades that were not for me and my face. I have a weekly rotation of razors and this gives me a good gauge of the quality and satisfaction of the shave. I started New blade Monday thread but I just saw this thread and would love to contribute. I will post a list of what I have used and what is left in my inventory.

All the best,

Brian

Suneko Amorphous Diamond Super Stainless

suneko1.jpg

So 4 total shaves finally accumulated last week on the Suneko. It's a good blade. Very smooth but clean feeling. Some "smooth" blades can feel oily for lack of a better adjective on my skin. The Suneko cuts effectively and I enjoy it a lot in a variety of razors. My sole reservation is their availability seems to be only from AliExpress or Temu from the seller Kung Fu Scissors, so it takes a week or so to arrive in the USA from China and the pricing isn't always the best. I generally land around $11-$12 for a single 100 pack when I try to price Suneko blades. If you buy 300-400 blades at a time, the current shipping discount given by AliExpress brings the cost down to around $8-ish per 100 for a "normal" price without any special sales. So it's a good blade, but blades like the Silver Star are competitive at the same price range and are easy to get in 2-3 days from AMZ.

Nonetheless, the Suneko gets my thumbs up. Looking at where I place it, I don't like that that the 7 o'clock Permasharp Stainless will fall below it, so it might make my realignment playoff rounds when this year is over. But the Suneko deserves its relatively high ranking and nothing else really jars my sense of bearing other than the Lord Cool probably needs to tumble down a few spots.

I just had the opportunity to get acquainted with many of the fine Treet products because of a blade exchange last year.

These were:

Treet 7-Days Platinum (Week 52)
Treet Carbon Steel "Black Beauty" (Week 32)
Treet Classic (Week 22)
Treet Dura Sharp (Week 10)
Treet King (Week 29)
Treet A Treet For Your Face (Week 21)
Treet Platinum Super Stainless (Week 38)
Treet Silver Carbon Steel (Week 12)
Treet Trig Silver Edge (Week 20)

So nine all together. And now they disappear. What's that all about?

At least I have laid in a nice supply of the Kings.

I don't think so.
If the assumption that all the blades that are not on the Treet company manufacturer's website page have been discontinued were realistic, only four Treet-made blades would remain and they would eliminate all the others including Treet 7 Days and Treet Classic.

The Pakistanis maybe have discontinued only a few carbon steel blades for example the Treet Silver blade, like as discussed in another topic on this forum but I don't think they will eliminate many from their catalog.
If you know anything official or news about discontinuation of many Treet blades it will be good to inquire by asking their customer service department to arrange to stock up on our favorite Treet blades.

Cloud Stainless B2004 (blue packaging)

I believe the blue Cloud blades are Cloud's value line. There is also a red version available.

Certainly the B2004 model is mild and the edge doesn't seem to last long. I don't have a lot to say about them other than for me use with an aggressive razor is a must. Expect to get two shaves out of them tops and one-and-done is probably best. Still, they're comfortable enough for my whisker-type and I enjoy them in killer razors like the Yaqi Knight Helmet. Most people will probably think they are too mild or dull.

Finished off the week this morning with the Gillette 7 O’Clock SharpEdge (yellow). It performed beautifully as expected. All 7 shaves were perfect; close, comfortable and smooth. Just a superb blade.

Up next and beginning tomorrow will be a Personna Red from Germany.

Here is a picture of this morning’s gear. Have a blessed week everyone.

Finished my week yesterday with the Personna Red from Germany. Not the best week of shaves, the first two were sort of rough and the last two were definitely rough. The middle three however were fantastic. Who knows?

This week’s blade is a Gillette Perma-Sharp. First shave this morning was fantastic. Hotel shave but still very comfortable and close.

Have a blessed week everyone.

Dorco Titan

Five shaves accumulated on two different blades in one week. It is a comfortable ride - I did not find it plush or "greasy" but the glide was good enough. The blade is sharp enough for my moderate hair type. It does not tug and does the job on the first shave competently.

Where I feel the Titan is below average is in terms of durability and a lasting edge. It is maybe a two shaves tops blade for me. The decline is definitely noticeable on a third shave, perhaps even as early as a second, and I just don't think this is good for a stainless steel blade.

Overall, I would willingly keep some around. However, I do think the value can be questioned. It is roughly a 10 cent blade and I say the Indian Gillette Wilkinson Swords within the same peer group are a better buy at 25% less. I prefer the Dorco ST300 for a sharper feel and even a lower price (purchased in bulk, it's a 6 cent blade).

Treet TJax Stainless

Five shaves completed with a Treet TJax in 3 different razors. The TJax is extremely mild and did not work well in a Van Der Hagen for me. It just needed more help and after I transfered to other razors with this in mind, I got the level of shaves I wanted. So if you need Gillette/Feather sharpness, the TJax is not for you. But if you like blades like the Tiger Platinum it might suit.

I can't rank it highly despite all my shaves being very comfortable. It's too specialized and I feel won't be good for many types of shavers. It's also priced around the cost of the Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge, and I can't recommend it over the Gillette, so here we are.

Finished up my week of shaves using the Gillette Perma-Sharp. It was very good. I had 7 good or great shaves, one that was a little rough but still good and one that was absolutely fantastic. The Perma-Sharp is definitely a great blade.

Next up and beginning tomorrow is an Astra Superior Stainless. I have high expectations for it.

Here is a picture of today’s set up. Have a blessed week.
