Shaving brush blanks from my insane tree stump

Thinking about making some shaving brushes. Tried to dig this one stump out of my yard with Kubota (wasn't happening). Cut it out with chainsaw. Took 2 blades......Cannot identify the wood. Cherry perhaps? Suggestions? If not shaving brushes what else?

thanks !

Looks like it would make some beautiful brush handles, and a lot of them! It would also make some beautiful straight razor scales!

Yes its spalted alright, one of my favorite woods.

The wood would need to be stabilized to be serviceable as the spalting is caused by a fungus. K&G is a very reliable company for this work. FWIW blanks of that wood stabilized can fetch a pretty penny.

If it looks that good as a stump, imagine how good it would look as a brush handle. I'm sure it won't be easy, but I bet it will be worth it.

Spalted Maple is also used for electric guitars, mostly the top.I've seen Fender Telecasters with spalted top,Carvins too.
