Self Ignored by Vista
Yeah, I started to buy a Brylon before I got my first Savinelli, then looked up their material and smoking qualities. :scared:

I hadn't heard of Vauen, but after looking it up they seem to be a good pipe. What model do you have? I didn't see the same style, that had the same shank ring, on the sites I looked at.

I'm liking the saddle stem on the one pipe I have that has one.

Looks like you have a good selection of 'baccy coming too.

I believe it's their basic, here: http://www.vauen.de/2/productdetails.aspx?pgid=22&lnid=2&pid=402&cid=22&ref=9

I wish there was someone close that could help me out with some basics...I'm loving it so far but I know I'm doing lots wrong. I'm a much better visual learner and I prefer being able to learn 'hands-on'.

Thanks for the interest Mike!

You could always look to see if there's a tobacconist nearby, or even if there's a pipe club. No idea how likely that is, but it's worth a shot.

I recommend some on my YouTube channel

But of the top of my head...
MacB Scottish blend, Navy Flake and Solent
Stokkebye Balkan supreme and Proper English
Cornell and Diehl Epiphany, Haunted Bookshop, Old Joe Krantz, and Billy Budd
Frog Morton On The Bayou

These are some of my all-time favorite non aros.

Check tobaccoreviews.com as well

And if you'd like, seek out "American English", or burley dominant, English blends. They usually are lighter on the Latakia.
