Bootlegger's AS recipes

We have a few members on the forum that come up with their own mix to either reduce the cost of an Aftershave and/or, make it more enjoyable.

By definition, a bootlegger AS is not an artisan AS. It's a mix of different AS that are commercially available or in production at the moment.

I've seen many of those recipes in the past but they are pretty much all over the place. I would like to see if we could either regroup those recipes in a thread or at least link to them from one thread so that way, it's easier to find them.

I do that also sometimes (mixing two, or more) Aftershaves to obtain better results from my AS. Often, the scent is strange, I should keep it in the same scent family.

I'm not the only one mixing scents: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/443680-Mixing-scents

Most recipes or mixtures that I saw were about Bay Rum:

Myself, I've been doing a 50% Pinaud Lilac Vegetal with a 50% Boosters Lilac. They are very different scent-wise. I mixed those because I did not like the post-shave feel of Pinaud. I found the Booster to be too close to a flower. Together, they balance each other with the flower-green scent and Pinaud does not kick as much.

How about you? What do you do? Any pictures?

Here's a post by OkieStubble (Rob), that has all of his Bootlegger's recipes (to this point) in one place.

Here are some additional threads with mixes discussed:

http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/351826-Aftershave-Cocktails-What-are-you-mixing

As a side note, Rob came up with the moniker "Bootlegger's" to describe his concoctions. And while there is no trademark or copyright on it, he is well known in the B&B community for it. I think in fairness to Rob, other folk's recipes should not be labeled as Bootlegger's.

Thanks for the links. I referred to it as Bootlegger's as it seems to be the only easy way to identify "what it is".

Thanks KJ For all the support you have given me and my concoctions over the years. I can't thank you enough. This is why you are the Bootlegger's CEO. :)

Luc, I would be honored to send you samples of the entire Bootlegger's Collection to try if you are interested and willing to pick up postage to Canada?

I would first want to thank you for your contributions.

I first started this thread to exchange ideas and recipes of commercial mix that were done as I like the idea. Considering the stash that I have, I cannot take any more aftershaves. I do have a few ideas that I will try and post.

Thank you for the offer but I must decline it.

I will start a different thread today that might point better to what I have in mind. Again, thank you

Thanks, OkieStubble for sharing these recipes. It was these Bootlegger concoctions that finally led me to join the B&B board. I am currently using Bootlegger's Bay Rum and have the ingredients for Bootlegger's Bay Rum Lime and Bootlegger's Perfecto Virginia (I think I got the last bottle of Vito's Tabacco in the U.S.; that stuff was hard to find in stock.) I am loving the BBR.

Here, OkieStubble mentions a new Bootlegger in the works using Special Reserve. How is that coming along?

You're very welcome dogsandhogs, and welcome to B&B! If you like my Bootlegger's Original Bay Rum, you will love the Lime and Perfecto. :)

Wow, You are very observative! I am impressed that you actually remembered that small mention of a post in that thread.
Bootlegger's 'El Dorado' is in the final stages of testing and samples will be handed out to a few selected members for trials & reviews.

PM me your mailing address, as you have just been added to the list! :)
