We have a few members on the forum that come up with their own mix to either reduce the cost of an Aftershave and/or, make it more enjoyable.
By definition, a bootlegger AS is not an artisan AS. It's a mix of different AS that are commercially available or in production at the moment.
I've seen many of those recipes in the past but they are pretty much all over the place. I would like to see if we could either regroup those recipes in a thread or at least link to them from one thread so that way, it's easier to find them.
I do that also sometimes (mixing two, or more) Aftershaves to obtain better results from my AS. Often, the scent is strange, I should keep it in the same scent family.
I'm not the only one mixing scents: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/443680-Mixing-scents
Most recipes or mixtures that I saw were about Bay Rum:
Myself, I've been doing a 50% Pinaud Lilac Vegetal with a 50% Boosters Lilac. They are very different scent-wise. I mixed those because I did not like the post-shave feel of Pinaud. I found the Booster to be too close to a flower. Together, they balance each other with the flower-green scent and Pinaud does not kick as much.
How about you? What do you do? Any pictures?
