I definitely agree. I just got my first Rhodia notebooks, an A4 grid and A4 meeting book, and I writing with my Pilot VP is scratchy. Writing in my A5 Franklin-Christoph Firma-Flex notebook is smooth as silk.
I read that Clairefontaine paper is smoother so I have one of those notebooks coming to try.
