Words and Phrases that really annoy

captp

Pretty Pink Fairy Princess.
Recommend me a soap
Or
Choose me an aftershave
Or
Pick me a brush

No.

Recommend a soap to me
Or
Choose an aftershave for me
Or
Pick a brush for me
I generally won't even LOOK at a thread that starts "Recommend me a...".The other 2 are pretty much the same. Although, if you were to say "Pick me a puck...", I might check it out.

The phrase "At the end of the day"

and whenever someone drops the words "to be" from a sentence.

Example: Instead of saying "The grass needs to be cut." they'll say "The grass needs cut."

..."The dog needs fed." ... "My car's oil needs changed." ... "The filter needs replaced."

makes my skin crawl

I suppose “the proof is in the pudding” drives me madder than anything else. When did people start saying that, and why didn’t they realise it makes no sense and is wrong? Why would anyone think somebody would put proof in a pudding?

Other than that, I am allergic to people saying or writing “should of” and when newsreaders or others who should know better pronounce “nuclear” as “nukular”.
