What's new

What Shaving Soap is in your rotation?

Go to soaps are Razorock (XXX and p.160), harder soaps are PdP and DR Harris Arlington (mostly just trying to use the DRH up, it underperforms compared to other stuff in the den), VdH Luxury is in there somewhere, new acquisitions are Mike's (Lime, Orange/Cedarwood/Black Pepper, and took a chance and blind bought Vetiver - smells nasty). Then there are the creams...

L'Occitane Cade (juniper scent)
Saponificio varesino Felce Aromatica v4.0
All of them are hard soap puck

More soaps on the way, but currently:
- Mystic Water "Prospect Creek" (a peppermint/menthol soft soap)
- MWF
- Haslinger Schafmilk
- Barrister & Mann unscented
- Valobra unscented
- A tub of XPEC cream (more of a croap?), unscented, that I haven't really been using so I guess it isn't really part of my rotation right now :).

Having tried pretty much everything on the market, I have my rotation down to three:

La Toja Stick
Le Pere Lucien
Sante Maria Novella

All face lathered, of course.

I have been alternating between Ginger's Garden bay rum and barbers quartet. After Tuesday, I'm going to try some Stirlings and Techichi Tinder. Then I will dig back into my samples piles.

I use use all of these in überlather with TOBS almond cream

For those of you with RR Tight Buns, do you find the scent to be faint? I got mine in the mail last night and upon smelling it, I could barely pick up anything. Thought the smell might come through more when lathered, but nope. Still faint.

Currently,

Williams
Proraso white tub
Col. Conk bay rum
Wilkinson sword blue bowl
Williams & glycerin frankensoap

Just updated my rotation...

Mitchell's Wool Fat

Switch DR Harris Arlington with Cella... I hate Cella scent with a passion..

The Tabac stick sees occasional and travel duty. When I finish any of these, I have a new tub of Shaver Heaven Spiced Mahogany and a new puck of Haslinger Sandalwood.

Where to begin?

My rotation generally consists of these. They are all fantastic in their own way.

Mike's Natural - barbershop, lime, bay rum, rose & cedar, pine & cedar, orange/cedar/pepper

Razorock - XXX, Son of Zeus, Fine American Blend, Mudder Focker

Phoenix/HTGAM - CaD, The Beach

Barrister & Mann - Nocturne, Latha (just added)

Strop Shoppe - Baker Street, Black Tie

Los Angeles Shave Soap Company - Bespoke #1

Arko
DR Harris Marlborough
Spencer & Devon Sage
Valobra Menthol
Tabac
AoS Sandalwood Cream
AoS Unscented Soap
MWF
Taconic Shave Tequila Lime
and, starting tomorrow,
Phoenix Cavendish

No real rotation, just whatever I feel like using at the time.

These four have been getting a lot of love lately;
Proraso green tub
Razorock Lime (love the scent of this)
La Toja stick (transferred to pyrex bowl)
Taconic Lime & Tequila

These will see more action come summer;
Krampert's Finest Frostbite (just purchased, used for the first time today. Nice!)
TOBS Peppermint
Razorock Fresco

These get used occasionally;
Razorock Don Marco
Cella red tub
Tabac
Lea stick
Western,

What are your thoughts on Taconic Shave? For me, it's tied with Valobra Menthol as my best performer. I don't see many comments about Taconic, so I always ask.
