I wish I could say I have a beautiful porcelain bowl made in China in the 1300's or something.
But, in fact, I have a collapsible silicon dog bowl I purchased from Stirling Soap Company for, like, 6 bucks.
And it works beautifully because it has little nubs on the bottom that stimulate lather.
It's ugly.
It's cheap.
It works.
Just like me.

The best attribute is that if dropped you don't risk breaking a tile or toe...

I've a 4" stainless steel lather bowl that I use for my soft Italian shaving soaps. I scoop out the desired amount of soap with a small spoon, press into the bottom of the bowl and build lather.

For my hard pucks I use my apothecary mugs where I build lather/load directly on the pucks. Spread my shaving creams on my face and then just face lather.
