Hello B&Bers!

For this SOTD Theme Week, let’s see your samples and small format shaving items!

Show us your small travel razors, trial size soaps and aftershave/cologne samples, travel or small brushes or anything else on the smaller size that is shaving related!

This week‘s theme is easy… post pics of your samples or small shaving items! If there is an interesting story around the acquisition of said items, we’d love to hear about it.

If you don’t have anything themed, post pics of your usual SOTD or just tell us about it!

As always, being creative and having fun IS mandatory but sticking with the theme is NOT mandatory but very strongly encouraged.

Let’s see your samples/small shaving items!

I am starting the week off with a different razor, the Henson Ti** and a Kai blade. I also have the Henson Al** and don’t find much difference in the performance of the two razors. I decided to use a Kai blade in the mild razor; the shave was excellent. Today I am going with another badger brush: the B&B LE 2012 brush by Rudy Vey. This brush looks and performs nicely. The MdC soap is on its 255th use. A perfect shave. Have a good day, folks.

ASRazor shave, Monday, Oct 16th 2023

Razor : Star bar #4 lather catcher- Mfg 1919-1920, mild to tame mid range. One of my favorite SE razors that was designed slightly different than the Gem Jr bar 1909 that is also a nice razor to use also. Well built to last with a little care and you still can combine a antique with a modern Gem blade for outstanding results I have concluded. Had a comfortable close shave with a new fresh Gem blade this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(1) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : TOBS herbal sandalwood, nice rich herbal scent 6-7/10 strength with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Deep stones" 24mm Boss synthetic knot, excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum & Sandalwood + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : 1-10 dial - Copy (2)3 template 9.5.1.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Star bar #4 1919-1920 with a fresh Gem blade.

Have some great shaves!

Shave Date 10/16/23
Razor:
1948 Gillette Super Speed
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (5)
Pre-Shave: PAA Cube 2.0
Soap: RazoRock Mudder Focker
Brush: Parker Badger
Post-shave: Alum Block, Thayers, PAA Mysterium Serum, RR Mudder Focker Aftershave
Bowl: Douglas Smith Pottery Suribachi Shaving Bowl
Rating: 9.00/10 BBS Cheeks and DFS on the neck. 0 weeper.

Notes here.

Shave #5 on the 7 O'Clock Black was a rough one. I didn't get along with this blade much past the first few shaves. I had quite a bit of irritation today, more so than any other day. Good data on this blade if nothing else.

Have a blessed Monday, may all your shave be BBS, nick, and weeper free.
