Monday's shave was with my R41 GS head on the (sadly, discontinued) Mühle tortoiseshell handle. The R41 is an interesting and efficient design. Today I shaved with Cremo brushless cream and it was great

Tonight for Muhle/MdC Monday I went for a change from my usual setup. I retired the Personna X blade after last night and I decided to try and finish a tuck of Personna Comfort Coated although I will have to take a break from them for the OBIF challenge when I will use a Personna 74.
This blade was never great for me, always a bit uncomfortable so I loaded it into the R89, I could load it with a broken bottle and still get a comfortable shave. This shave was no exception, the R89 managed to smooth it out and deliver not a BBS, but as close as makes no difference.

A nice CCS with the R89 today. I'm quite content with the performance of my two pass shave (WTG, ATG). I didn't aim for DFS or BBS, as the possibility of irritation could be high with the Parma-sharp blade if I would have attempted a third pass.
The Mühle soap produced a nice thick and slick lather, which was a bit dry for the first pass but lovely hydrated for the second.

Tonight for Muhle/MdC Monday I went once again with the Rocca R94 set for that touch of class. I loaded the blade into the Rocca for its 8th use and there was a huge difference from the last time I used this combo. The weeks use it has had in the R89 tamed the blade so I had no problems with weepers. I even finished up with a BBS so there was a lot to like about this shave, it's no wonder I love Mondays so much!

Summary. Good shave with one of my favourite razors. The Rocca definitely kickstarted the week and delivered despite a middle of the road blade. The only thing detracting from the experience was a cut on my left cheek out of nowhere.

Tonight for Muhle/MdC Monday I got to use my still favourite brush, the Kosmo for the lather. It is not just the lighter weight that puts the Kosmo above the R94 STF, but the handle is also a more comfortable shape. I loaded the P74 into the R89 and shaved away with little attention to what I was doing and ended up with a near BBS with one small rough patch on one side of my neck due to my own in attentiveness. Unfortunately near the end I had to hurry it up a bit and only noticed when I was finished.
Excellent shave again today, Mühle Rocca and brush.
When it comes to the closeness of a shave the R41 GS loaded with a Feather blade is a combo which is hard to beat. Two passes, a shallow angle and a gorgeous lather was all it took to make for an effortless BBS shave.

Tonight for Muhle/MdC Monday I used the exact same setup as last week. I love this brush with the soap and it is just like lathering with a cloud. The MdC lather is unquestionably one of my favourites and always delivers a great shave. I loaded the P74 blade into the R89 for its 12th shave and it is still working, the result tonight was better than last night though my neck still wasn't as smooth as it could be.
One thing I forgot to mention last night was that I finally put a hole in the EJ Aloe Vera so here's looking forward to the end of it.

The R89; my first DE razor and still a great, mild shaver at a very reasonable price. I would say it's the perfect razor for a beginner but also one suitable for advanced shaving students, because it allows technique refinement without being an unforgiving tool. With just the right blade and a good day DFS is possible. I never achieved BBS with the R89 and that's perfectly okay. Maybe one day.

Tonight with MdC Original up for lathering with the R94 STF brush lathering was just such a delight. Even though I only use MdC once a week I find it lathers so easily and always gives a quality shave. The 19th use P74 blade is still going strong and although it didn't deliver a BBS finish it was a good.DFS+.
