Dark navy topcoat with black suit?

Hey guys,

I just bought a black suit for new years, and also picked up a Michael Kors dark navy overcoat thats has a grey contrast lapel with black buttons. Would this be ok to wear over the black suit, or should I go back for an all black coat? Does having a contrasting lapel limit when i can wear the jacket?

Cannot mentally picture it, so can't help much. Can only say that the overcoat will not be worn inside, so only the suit will "show" most of the time in a crowd.

I think it's just fine. In fact, I bet it looks better than a mono-chromatic scheme.

Sounds very sharp to me; I think the color contrast will work for you much better than trying to match the shades of black between the suit and topcoat. Go for it!

That's fine. I wouldn't combo those colours on the actual outfit, but for the overcoat you wear over the outfit, that's fine.
