Affordable Diver's Watch that isn't an Orient or Seiko

I think the Marathon might be a fair way above the OP's specified price point.

I have no idea what they charge nowadays for the JSAR, when i bought mine it was maybe $350 ish, so i would imagine a pre owned should or could fall into the OP's price point..

I think that is a cool looking watch, but the pricing is way out of whack for what it is. You can get darn close by taking about any other Timex (under 50 bucks) and sticking a 15 buck Nato Strap on it.

Yeah that's the problem with J crew's collaborations. They take an item, make it a little different and jack up the prices. Pretty sweet nonetheless

Marathon is a decent watch, finish is nice,Lume is fantastic, 300m rated all stainless.

How did you get you're hands on one of those? I thought those were government issue.

Seagull makes a beautiful watch. not sure about divers. So does Perpetual watches. They have one that just knocks my socks off.

Not exactly divers watches, but nice looking.

I can understand the apprehension with the Citizen Miyota movements. They sometimes suffer from something called seconds hand stutter - where the seconds hand kind of skips or jumps as it goes round the dial. And you can't wind a Seiko, which puts some people off.

The stutter can be improved upon though, by tightening the seconds hand tension bar on the movement. I did that to a couple of my watches and it made a pretty big difference. Accuracy times of plus or minus 10-30 or so are perfectly acceptable. You can read a lot about that at watchuseek. It is a mechanical watch after all, and everything from positioning (dial up, dial down, crown up, crown down, etc) to how active you are during the day can affect the accuracy. You may notice that it keeps perfect time on your bedstand crown down at night, but if you wear it at night it may lose 30 seconds, or gain 20 seconds (or whatever). They're quite sensitive.

I went to perpetual's website, and I fell in love with that GMT style watch you posted, fantastic pricing on what looks like a quality watch too. I'd have to take it in black with a backup brown leather strap though, and 24 hour timing! might be a replacement for my soon to be retired Citizen.
