What's new

What is your EDC knife?

Tekto A2 Badger Mini today. Have it in a belt pouch it came with. Still have my Bugout mini in my EDC pocket organizer.

This is my Dragonfly.

There are many like it¹, but this one is mine 😉.

ZDP-189 steel with British Racing Green FRN.

A great little tool.

¹–it was some kind of long sprint run / 18~24 mo. thing they did a while back. They made several continuous production lots of these for a spell, iirc. Mine has lived it's whole life indoors as my desk knife, so it's particularly clean.

Went out camping this week. Took the Griptilian. A beast of a blade. Thick and strong. Really cool grind too. This one is Benchmade’s corrosion resistant model. I think they call this line the H2O models or something. But I never have gotten any corrosion on any of my Benchmade blades though. I got this particular knife because it is orange!

The Griptilian is a bit chunky in the pocket. So, the 940 Osborne wins when it comes to every day carry. But the Grip is the perfect choice for outdoor activities where a knife may be called into harsher duties.

As a fidget knife, there aren’t too many better than this one. The axis lock is as smooth as butter. Pulling the axis lock and flicking the blade open is quite satisfying. And there is a unique snap and sound when it’s flicked open. Pull back on the axis lock and the blade just free falls closed with zero resistance. It’s a fun one!

Here's some great news concerning RAT knives.

They are now available in S35VN steel for more money.

But here is the latest and greatest news in many years.

There is a new model out called the RAT 1.5. It is sized between the 1 and the 2, with a 3.25" blade.

AND...

It is comes in CPM MagnaCut!

Apparently, though it was introduced two weeks ago it is available on pre-order.

It has a retail price of $139.95 and is selling between $89 and $95.

"This steel has great edge retention and fantastic corrosion resistance and toughness, ensuring it will survive any cutting job."

The handle has now been upgraded to G10 from nylon on the previous models.

Specifications

  • Blade Length: 3.25"
  • Closed Length: 4.38"
  • Overall Length: 7.63"
  • Blade Material: CPM-MagnaCut Stainless Steel
  • Blade Thickness: 0.115"
  • Blade Style: Drop Point
  • Blade Grind: Full Flat
  • Blade Finish: Satin
  • Handle Material: Black G10
  • Locking Mechanism: Liner Lock
  • Pocket Clip: (Tip-Up/Down, Right/Left Carry)
  • Weight: 4.00 oz.
  • Made in Taiwan
Because it is not in-stock at the time I checked, it is possible to get on one of the "Wish Lists".

So I am providing this Google link to the search results page with several companies.

Here is a link to a RAT 2 with S35VN steel. It also comes with the upgraded G10 Handle.

These are going for just under $100. Though, I would personally opt for the CPM MagnaCut.

Good news!
