What's new

What do you guys use to hold your puck of soap?

Holy Cow! I've been looking for something like this since getting into wet-shaving. I love the classic Old Spice mugs but the way I swirl my brush around I've always felt that a handle on the bottom would be a bit more comfortable. Does this type of mug have a name?

Welcome to B&B.
Thanks for your compliment. I bought that container 2 years ago in a yard sale and it is made of white glass like $3 or something. I agree with you, bowls which have handles on the bottom more comfortable than mug types and I prefer to use this style in my bowls too.

I use my 'own' Sterling (needs polishing now & then), Silver Baby :001_rolle Cup (because it fits Chelsea's Unscented Shave Soap perfectly...unwrap...in the cup...no hassles...no issues), my Mother gave me (as my family Keepsake), many...many 'moons' ago.

Also, yes..my B & B friends...it's engraved with my name, birthday and this note;

"To Smoke is Human...To Smoke Cigars is Divine"

I am with you! I like this as well seeing that it looks like you can grip the bottom and swirl away!

Soooooooooooo many ideas.... Now, which one shall I execute! Thank you all for making this thread so valuable. I can't believe it's into the 3 page territory!

I have wooden bowls that came with soap pucks, MWF's dish, a glass ramekin, a steel soap bowl, an apothecary mug, a Tabac bowl and some plastic dishes too. They all have their places and most seem to be full of soap pucks at the moment. :001_cool:

I use two Old Spice mugs (one from each Grandfather) and a wooden bowl and lid turned by my Father. But, isn't it amazing the number of choices offered here? I guess that's the B&B community for ya'.

Hey all!! I was looking to expand upon my soap use. However, I don't have a solution as to what I would use to hold the soap. I had a Col Conk Shaving Mug, but the puck didn't fit in the top correctly without some modifications. Ironically, I was also using a Col Conk soap, so I would have thought the fitment would have been right on. Thank you all in advance for your feedback!

Nice! Those labels are sweet! How did you make those?

Well, that's easy... you've got two options:
1 - just cut the package of the soap into the appropriate round shape;
2 - print an image taken from the web, or create your own images and print them.

The lids of these boxes are transparent for you to see the interior... if you glue the labels on the interior, with the image facing out, they look very nice and cool! :thumbup1:

I kept it simple: just used a little of adhesive tape on the border of the paper label to glue it to the inside of the lid... easy to do, and easy to remove when the soap finishes.

The Valobra is mine (I printed the image), but here's a couple of examples (not mine), taken from the Spanish wet-shaving forum foroafeitado.es:
