Super Iridium blades

Sadly I'm not in love with Iridiums either. No cuts but man it took way too much effort, dragging, missed stubble everywhere even after multiple passes. I like current production Russian Yellows and Blues way better and they're cheaper...

I will gladly swap you one for one (all my yellows for those nasty SI's of yours), even up. :001_tongu

Understood. I'd be hesitant to but 100 blades, only to find out they're not what I want. I'm still hoping that Jopo from the other thread offers them in smaller quantities. Maybe if enough of us ask him?

 I only have 2, Rasindot was kind enough to do a blade exchang with me and after swaping out razors, I had a much more enjoyable second shave with it.

Just used the Iridium blades for the first and last time. A gent was nice enough to pif me some and for that I'm greatful of. My set up consisted of my trusty Merkur 180 and Razorock Fresco soap. My initial impression of this blade was how smooth it was. But no matter what I did I could not get BBS shave. Even after six passes and a touch up my face had had enough and I. Settled on a damn near BBS. Sharp isn't a word I'd use to describe these blades. There on par with Derby for smoothness. Being of American Asian decent I dont exactly have tough hair. Oh well, back to personna and Gillette silver blue. My face is sore. What a blade.

Just tried the iridiums today- perfect shave. It was super close and smoooooth! I'm not a fan of the expensive, briefly sharp Feathers. My 3 top blades after trying 3 different sample packs are a dead tie: Astra SP, Perma Sharps and now the PolSil Super Iridiums. I just received a pack of Astra Stainless Steel Blues and will see how they rank. I really wanted to like Bluebird blades but they just weren't as smooth as the above mentioned; sharp but not smooth. Honorable mention also goes to the Gillette blacks which proved to be sharp and smooth but not as much as say the Perma Sharps. Astras are my go to blade but these others shine just as brightly.

I'm sold. I picked up a couple SI's from TGBE. Wow. SUper smooth, sharp, great shave. I just finished shave number 2 and it was fantastic. If this blade holds up for 2 or 3 more decent shaves it will be my next bulk purchase.

I've read that there's no difference between the Iridiums (mentioned in the earlier part of this thread) and the Polsiver Super Iridium. Others claim the Polsivers are quite good, but not up to the standard of the Iridiums.

Can anybody shed more light on this? Is there a difference?

Tried a Polsilver SI in my uber mild Goodfella OC today. For me it was at least as good as a Feather, slightly ahead of an Astra SP and much better than a Derby. Tomorrow I'll try one in my ATT Kronos R1. A downside is that a 5 pack is twice the price of the Astras.

Funny that there is so many mixed reviews of the Polsilver SIs. Back before they came out and what was available were the Iridium Supers, which most people (though not all) think are the same as the new Polsilver SI's, those blades were almost universally loved here. Either the new ones are not the same, or maybe the "powere of suggestion" thing is at work here.

I believe there is some confusion due to the fact that there are Polsilver Stainless (discontinued) and Polsilver Super Iridium, and it's not always apparent which blade is being discussed.

Personally, I do not trust a lot to people who do a blade testing and can make more then 5-6 comfortable shaves with just one blade, no matter what kind and manufacturer of blade.

That's not very logical. Your face and whiskers are not hard enough to seriously dull a metal razor blade after a few shaves, and the 'dullness' is most likely buildup of soap scum/crud, or wearing of the anti friction coating. No reason a blade can't last a really long time if you're careful about drying it, and I've personally had good blades last over 30 shaves. So have lots of others around here.

I am very open to learn and improve my shaving technique, even after 35 years of DE shaving. As you know my face and my whiskers better than me, but you have never seen me, I will be appreciate to get some tips and tricks in order to make many comfortable shaves per blade.

I've tried a lot of blades and have found the Polsilver SI to be one of the better blades on the market. I can't tell the difference between the new PSI and the older IS. To me they are identical blades. If you liked the old IS blades then give the PSI a shot and you will probably like it as well. If you didnt like the old SI blade, well, then pass on the PSI.
As far as the number of shaves per blade are concerned, for my setup I get 6 decent shaves with a PSI, then the quality drops off enough that I switch blades. I COULD push the blade...I don't know...many many more shaves. But heck, they aren't that expensive so why put up with any razor burn if you don't have to? Thats my perspective anyway.

I have noticed that face prep and the cream or soap I use makes a significant impact on the longevity of the blade. If I use a good preshave oil (I normally never use oil) and Proraso White I have no doubt I could get a dozen good shaves from a single PSI blade. I don't use preshave oil often and I dont use White every shave...so I get 5 or 6. Good enough for me. Point being....equipment used, technique, cream, oil, preshave prep, etc all have a major impact on blade longevity. If someone claims to get 20 shaves from a blade I don't doubt them, I just figure they are more careful about prep than I am, and are more tolerant of dull blades than my face is.

So opinions, reviews, etc....all I can say is you have to swing away at different gear until you find what works for you. Which is why The Great Blade Exchange here at B&B is a great resource for all of us. Kudos to Toothpick!

So from what i understood , the POL iridium super and these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Iridi...t=US_Shaving_Hair_Removal&hash=item4d191499d7

are the same? both made in St-Petersburg makes sense

But the old SI brown pack made in poland, are different and some say were the greatest ?
BTW last week the brown ones were for sale at like 25$ /100 on ebay, seems someone snatched them off fast !

but

I believe thats correct, POL Iridium Super and Pol Super Iridium are the same. The older IS blades were made in Poland, then production was moved to St P. Some people claim the older SI blades from Poland were much better than current production. I used the old blades and had a couple left. So I tried an informal test and for me I couldn't tell the difference.

^^ this
If one can do 6 comfortable shaves with one blade then he probably must have titanium skin or high pain tolerance lol. Most times I only do 2 passes per shave and always feel that the blade is becoming harsh to my skin after 4-5 shaves.
