What's new

Publix Witch Hazel

My routine is:

-Shower
-Apply hair conditioner to face
-Make lather
-Apply Lather
-Shave (usually just two passes)
-Cold Water rinse to get off residual lather
-Wipe face with towel
-Cold Water applied to face (helps activate the menthol in the aftershave)
-Apply Witch Hazel
-Apply Aftershave (usually mentholated)

Hair conditioner to the face...interesting

So I will pick up some WH from Publix today and use it after my shave. Hopefully it will help reduce the burn, redness and bumps.

I have never thought of applying hair conditioner to my face. What exactly does this do? I may have to try this now.

It's a recommendation from Mantic. It's supposed to soften the hair. I just use cheap Suave hair conditioner. Some of the more fancy stuff is actually designed to strengthen the hair, which is counterproductive.

I've been experimenting with 'home-brew' witch-hazel, using the regular $3 a bottle stuff form WallyWorld

3/4 cup witch hazel
1/4 cup 91% alcohol
20 drops glycerine
10 drops Rosemary oil
10 drops Orange oil

Nice - and ingredients are cheap enough that I can trash a batch and start again if I don't like something.

Sounds pretty silly to me. Conditioner has a lot of ingredients that may cause a sensitive skin face to break out... Maybe it works for some but would def not work for me. I would much ratehr just hot towel prep.
