Shapu razor blades

Hi, People of B&B.

While browsing online recently, I came across a brand of blades called Shapu that I hadn’t seen or heard of before. It seems they are marketed mainly towards barbers, as most of the shops selling them are barber-related. They’re priced at about $10 for 100 blades, but they seem to be hard to get outside the US, especially with high shipping fees to Europe.

Has anyone here tried them? Are they any good?

I’ve seen a few posts about them on STOD, and I’d love to hear others’ opinions. At the moment, I’m hesitant to purchase due to the shipping costs, but I’m curious to know if they’re worth trying.

I would be interested in trying to figure out where this private label blade comes from, but I have a bunch of other stuff in queue and I have been busy with work. Good chance it is junk, good chance it is fine, small but not insignificant chance it is good.

According to the description on the website the blades are made from 6cr13 stainless steel.

Did a search for the blade steel and came across this link very quickly. Perhaps the likely candidate for manufacture.

6Cr13 is the most common alloy for Chinese blades. Xirui is probably the number one white label blade producer, but there are several others who could also make them.

I have tried them, no good for me. Several other guys didn’t think they were very good either. Some others though think they are pretty good. #ymmv
For me, I won’t ever use them anymore. I’d rather stick with my Feather, Dorco Prime, Personna comfort coated or Gillette Perma-Sharp.
