LRod's Acquisition and everything else Thread!

The RADMAN, RADMEISTER, RADSTER, The DAD of RAD, The Prince of Purchase, The Beethoven of Buying, The Ace of Acquisition, The Sheik of Shopping, The Professor of Procurement etc...I could go on, but suffice to say, you provide us with lots of entertainment and reviews. I'm here for the "Wait, what...you bought something else"? I'm also waiting for you to think about combining your next 4 or 5 purchases together and springing for a Taedalus.

I don't know about the Tedalus even though you all say it's great. Something about spending that much on a razor makes it prohibitively expensive for me. I know I've spent much more but for that price I get to try a few razors at once.
I think that's why I haven't bought one yet!

69 razors at average price of what, like $200?

You know I like Timeless and Blackland Razors, right? If I had to choose between giving up all 4 Timeless TI razors or giving up the Tedalus, I'd be sad, but I'd keep the Tedalus. Same for the three Blackbirds.

Manuel might cut you a break if you bought two... ;)
I get it man trust me!
Maybe some day!
And it's 68 now. One sold yesterday! ;)

Here's a more realistic count which I just looked at (which I guess is good to know for my RAD sanity):
Out of the 68, around 13 are over $100.
Around 10 are over $200!
The rest are well below $100 and
17 of the 68 are vintage which I mostly paid peanuts for those with the exception of the
Gillette Sheraton.

My problem is that I like almost everything I have. I'll eventually sell some of them, but there aren't many I want to part with. A sell off of say two of my four Superslants, the Greencult 1.1, my TI Timeless Slim and my Stainless Tatara Nodachi with OC Masamune plate collectively wouldn't cover the WR3 I'm thinking about

Why do you think I have so many?
Like you, I've reached a point that I like alot of what I have and the expensive ones are mostly the ones I like best.
The cheaper ones wont cover most of what will eventually be on the horizon.
If you want a WR3, the ones you mentioned would at least cover a portion of the cost.
I'm guessing you want one of the "high ticket" WR3's though!
Sometimes my sales don't cover everything and I end up footing the difference if I really want something!

Yep.

Second incredibly fantastic shave with the Hone Type 15 Bronze!
I'm gonna call this razor "The hidden Gem". It deserves that title!
First the bad news:
I decided to experiment with a Kai blade. These were supplied to me by our super generous
@BigAlVista (Mark!)
Unfortunately the Kai's never work for me regardless of the razor. They're either subpar on some razors
or just plain bad in others (for me!) On the Hone, they're the latter! Sorry Mark!
First stroke and it was like shaving with rocks. I immediately felt my skin react negatively!
So I stopped and did a quick blade change to an Astra SP (my original plan that I should've followed from the beginning).
Now the good news:
The rest of my 2 passes were as good as it gets!
I used some Arko which is super slick and gripped the razor on the neck where the center of gravity is
and what a shave my friends!
That perfect shave that makes you smile while you're shaving!
Beautifully mild and plenty efficient for a perfect face feel with only positive results.
I can't vouch for the stainless or the old brass one since I've never owned those.
And can't either for the aluminum since it gave me some major drag during shaves.
But man oh man is this Bronze one special!
An absolutely wonderful creation.
Nope, nope, nope, it ain't going anywhere!!
Note: These are my results so YMMV! 🙂

No need to apologize, Larry. For me, the purpose of the Kai (and it's only virtue), is that it can increase the exposure (because it's a bit wider than most blades) of an inefficient razor. If I recall, when I sent them to you, you were trying to figure out whether to keep your Blutt, and we were experimenting to see if a bit more blade exposure would help.
