Search for @ JustShaves (no space) on YT. I linked the video, but it seems that was a nono. Good content! What might I search for to find it?
Thanks again for recommending it @ErkRusselReserveSearch for @ JustShaves (no space) on YT. I linked the video, but it seems that was a nono. Good content!
I've heard that complaint about Alum from others as well; I haven't had any issues with it drying out my skin but that's probably because I shower so quickly after using it. I don't swear by it and think it's critical for everyone, but it's helpful for me just to gauge how closely I just shaved. The Timeless Al was a nice one again Justin! I didn’t notice before (my bad) that you use alum to finish off the shave.
I usually skip that part and after rinsing apply my balm. Alum makes my skin dry out too fast and too much.
I don’t use aftershave either. Just balm. I recently got Head Blade’s Head Lube matte. Very quick absorption, no stickiness, no overly closure of pores. Nice stuff. But Proraso worked just as well for me.
Good point. I have a separate sun screen lotion for that. HeadBlade has one with SPF s as well, but I first wanted to try their product before diving all in.SPF face lotion
I've used Nivea's balm and then remembered that I was leaving the house to go somewhere, applying the SPF face lotion afterwards still works fine. But when I use Nivea's splash it dries in what feels like less than a minute and it doesn't feel like I'm awkwardly mixing two products when I reach for the SPF lotion.Good point. I have a separate sun screen lotion for that. HeadBlade has one with SPF s as well, but I first wanted to try their product before diving all in.
Showers and shaves are two worlds apart for me. I’d I shower my face doesn’t like to be shaved. At all. Head is fine, but I tend to first shave and then shower like you.
Cheers,
Guido
Woohoo!! Glad it arrived OK.Just arrived from Florida, looking forward to trying it out in another day or so. I should really see about renaming this thread, I guess I’m not done buying razors![]()
Happy it works for you!Entry #22 - 2/15/2025
Just had my maiden voyage shave with the Brass Overlander and holy smokes! I think it’s a keeper. I knew it was going to be smooth and comfortable, but I was surprised by how efficient it was. I have plenty of other more efficient options in my den, but none that are close to this level of comfort. I was reminded of the Colonial CR7 in terms of the very low blade feel, but the extra weight of the Overlander (110 grams) only made the experience even smoother. My ending shave results were more than satisfactory.![]()
You and me both my friend! I was worried it wouldn’t be efficient enough for me but I was pleasantly surprised! I think I’m finding that I’m torn on blade feel and maybe prefer it on some days but also appreciate the razors that manage to still be efficient without it. The Ti Blackbird is my overall favorite razor and it has a ton of blade feel; the Overlander was the polar opposite in terms of blade feel and I like them both.Happy it works for you!
That makes it a worthwhile purchase. I mentioned that it was super smooth and efficient but I couldn't
get pass the lack of blade feel.
Join the club brother, there's plenty of room for you in the SABRE group!Venturing into shavettes. Brave man! I have done it twice now, maybe three times - but so far my injector and GEM give me closer shaves. More practice needed!
