JL 52’s 2025 Shave Log - (Recovering From Severe Case of RAD)

Entry #34 - 3/24/2025

Back-to-back in-office days so I had a 24 hour shave. I wanted to go with a safe and quick option after my previous shave with the SS APEX and decided to go with the Bison.

Very solid two pass shave with the Bison and more importantly no irritation or reopened weepers 🍻

I did notice more drag this go around with the Bison, but I was able to mitigate much of it by relathering. Overall very happy with the Bison so far.

Had just one day’s growth but wanted to treat myself to a shave at the end of the day anyway. Decided to pick up the Blackland Batch 002 and it was a blast. I don't think I love the handle grips more than a traditional DE but it's a fun change of pace and I do like it. I think Blackland got the efficiency level just right; it feels safe and easy to use yet is effective enough that it still works well. Efficiency reminds me of the Rockwell 3 Plate, I can get to a respectable shave with my two WTG passes but it leaves just enough stubble behind that my risk of irritation or nicks is quite low. One of the most fun razors in my den at the moment, I'll be reaching for it often. 🍻

Entry #36 - 3/29/2025

Reunited with an old friend for a Saturday afternoon head shave, the Rockwell 4 plate!

Easy, close, and comfortable. I was immediately reminded of all the well-deserved hype surrounding this razor had back when I first started shaving.
