I'm going to take the leap - need help on a setup

Right. Keep telling yourself that and I am sure it will turn to the truth. I suspect that it has more to do with the fact that the Griffon was your own decision, so your conscious is clear on that one, while your honor, being somewhat impugned, regarding the Puma, forces your hand into some affirmative show of contrition.

The least of my concerns is making a false show of contrition to a shaving forum ... I do value honor and I am more likely to equate honor to things like being a faithful husband to my wife, an affirming father to my daughters, a hard worker and a dependable friend to those who trust in me and I trust in as friends... a momentary lapse of judgment in deciding to keep or sell a freaking piece of steel is not a question of honor...it was an exercise in judgement to the good or bad...ok with admitting that I got caught up and tried to fund my venture into straights with a desirable razor, that after price and honing I have $96 in by the way .... honemaster charged $50 to remove the ding. But seriously, this is a hobby and passion for many of us....but the nature of somes to grab stones and begin to go for blood and verbally "stone" others that may make a mistake is pretty off putting and sad.

I owned up to poor judgement based on being called out in a manner that I considered respectable...
but if I want to sell the Puma for $96 or $250 its my decision to make.... I choose to honor the ethics and spirit of B&B, humble myself and admit my mistakes....because I am honorable and not some childish punk.

HAHAHAHA. Go ahead an kneel at the alter of the cult of victimization now. I sincerely hope your continuing journey into straights goes better than your opening foray.

Hey give the guy a break.
He found a razor and it turns out he can make a profit on it and still achieve his goal, with a different one.
I don't see anything so wrong with that.
Several posts (including one of mine) were encouraging him to take the leap and just flip the thing if he did not like it.
Different circumstances, but so what.

How is the Puma working out for you?

not well actually ... had it honed locally twice and both times I shaved and it was jumpy and rough (likely my technique) so after $50 in hones I cut my losses, bought 3 GD shave ready straights from Buca ( should be here Saturday) so I can see what a proper edge is like and I sold the Puma for what I had in it on Ebay.

So on to better edges and cheaper razors. I do have a Tony Miller strop coming and a Boke Edelweiss as well.....so definitely sticking with it ... just not with the Puma.

If it's likely your technique that's the problem, how will selling the razor and getting some different ones help?

That is his schtick. He asks questions on here about razors and then immediately lists them on e-bay with descriptions based upon the information gleaned from members' responses to his queries. In essence, we are the appraisal service.

Holy cow, that's a lot of coin for ding removal

I just got the two shave ready GDs and 208 from Buca and from now on he will be honing my razors... phenomenal and the two honings I had on the Puma even looked nothing like Buca's edge.....gonna shave with the 208 tonight!
