Gillette development

My vintage Williiams shave stick has a nice rose scent, and that was being enjoyed by manly men before you were even the hint of a glint in your Grandpa's eye!

hmmm, I could be 83 years old, and still have hated Williams. lol

But I'm not. And, I would much rather use Trumper's Rose than new Williams. Just don't tell anyone. :wink2:

hehehe I'm very liberal, but I've got to draw the line somewhere. And the line I draw relates to those people who live an alternative lifestyle... by using rose scented creams.

Heck, we might as well hijack this thread. I just don't get rose scented creams. They are sooooo feminine. And for someone to use a straight edge with rose scented cream/soap... that's just plain wrong. :mad3:

A truly real rose scent really isn't feminine, I have an orange rose bush in my yard that has a scent to it that I wish that I could put in a soap or a cream.

The notion that lavender is feminine because it is "floral" is utterly absurd. Although lavender plants do produce flowers, their scent can be characterized almost as "herbal" rather than floral. Any lavender scents that come off as feminine - and there are a number of them, I grant you - are essentially bastardizations of what real lavender smells like. The best ones are excellent, and quite masculine.

Now, as for rose creams...well, I can't argue that they're pretty, uh, flowery, but I do like some of them. Whether they're more masculine or feminine is subjective, I think. Culturally, we're in a phase where rose is viewed as a feminine scent, but there have been times when rose scents were worn mostly by men. Not coincidentally, the companies that market rose-scented men's products are of the traditional bent (e.g., Trumper, T&H, Harris, etc.). In contrast, AOS markets its rose shaving products to women. Which rose creams have you tried, by the way?

BTW, I know we're threadjacking, but at the risk of sounding disrespectful, who cares? It wasn't like this thread was really going where the OP wanted it to anyway.

So how about some lavender suggestions? I love Trumpers Lavender Water (I think that's what it was called). Good stuff.

As far as rose, I've tried Trumpers... which smells like roses. I think it reminds me of my grandmother. To me it reeks of elderly female... but I was thinking the same thing as you... the traditional companies are the ones that market it so it must have been "cool" way back when.

I'm a Shaving guy, and I'm okay.
I prep at night. I shave all day.

Mounties : He's a Shaving guy, and he's okay.
He preps at night and he shaves all day.

I cut my beard. I eat my lunch.
My den's in the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go surfing
And hang out on B&B.

Mounties: He cuts his beard. He eats his lunch.
His den's in the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes surfing
And hangs out on B&B.

Chorus : He's a Shaving guy, and he's okay.
He preps at night and he shaves all day.

I cut my beard. I primp and prep.
My soap smells like wild flowers.
I put on women's skin cream
And talk about slant bars.

Mounties : He cuts his beard. He primps and preps.
His soap smells like wild flowers.
He puts on women's skin cream
And tallks about slant bars?!

Chorus : He's a Shaving guy, and he's okay.
He preps at night and he shaves all day.

I cut my beard. I wear cologne,
And Lilac Vegetal!
I wish I had a Pink Lady,
Just like my dear Mama!

Mounties : He cuts his beard. He wears cologne,
And Lilac Vegetal?!

Best Girl: Ohhhhhh, and I thought you were so rugged!

I remember a thread that took a similar turn...

Hmm...speaking of alternative lifestyles, I think you're confused about which team you want to play for.

lol! Well, I'd rather be on the "alternative lifestyles" team, or any other team, than use Williams Soap.

I've only got 15,348 shaves left, and I'm not going to waste any of them with Williams.

P.S. I know this is a gentleman's forum, so I hope everyone is taking my rose, alternative lifestyle, and Williams comments light-hardheartedly.

Oh, you can criticize my politics and my lifestyle...you can call my wife ugly and kick my dog, you can even say I secretly shave with a Fusion...but to show such disrespect to Williams, a soap that has been around since 1840, a soap that so many wet shavers learn on, an icon of the wet shaving world...that's where I draw the line!

Lightheartedly, but I draw the line!

And to think, I've never even used it. I've sniffed it at the supermarket, but that was it.

It "works," just like a plain boiled potato is "food."

Life is too short for plain boiled potatoes or Williams soap.

+47 to that!
With VDH ready and willing to morph into Van der Spice on any given day Williams isn't worth a second glance much less a sniff! :wink2:

I think it was around 1985 when I found Surrey glycerin shaving soap.
After trying it once, I threw the Williams in the trash, and hope I never see another puck of it.

Then, I went back to the store and bought every one of the Surrey soaps that they had in stock!

Hi guys.

I'm doing marked research for my new online business that's going to sell Gillette Fusion Power 4 pack.

How would you describe the development of Gillette Fusion Power 4 pack sold online?

Thanks

If your willing i have a draw full of them. I will at some time look to see if they are increasing in value since they seem to get more costly all the time. :wink2: My buddy is looking to spring them since he is still a fusion shaver. But again i am not sure we are going to be much help here for your question. But good luck

LOL...

A bit O/T, but what is the point of having "friends" on this site? I'm not saying I don't want to be friendly, I just don't get what that benefit is of having somebody marked as your "friend," versus not. And no, I'm not just saying that because I only have one.

Hey that is one more than i have....:w00t: But i 100% agree with the statement here. You guys are all great but unless your coming over to help me paint my home.....Just saying....:w00t::tongue_sm:001_smile:wink2:

However i have never been around a nicer bunch of guys in my life.

In order to help the OP, here is my story:

I started shaving with the Mach 3 because it was better than the GII.
I started shaving with the Mach 3 because it was better than the Contour.
I started shaving with the Mach 3 because it was better than the Sensor.
When the M3 Turbo came out, I upgraded because surely it was better than a naturally-aspirated razor.
When they started putting batteries in the handle, I thought that was stupid and stopped upgrading.
When the Fusion came out I considered upgrading, but then again I had never seen a battery-powered cheese grater. On the other hand, a turbo-charged cheese grater would be awesome!
Then, through the power of brushes&creams I found this place and the rest is history...

Well, about Gillette, they still have very good DE blades...

I wont be using them 'till they have brighter colors. And more blades.

And, to be frank with you, untill they reach $12.98 per cartridge, I wont be loyal to any brand.
