Canadian razor blades?

Maybe more of an economics question, but can someone explain why there are no Canadian DE blades? Is it just an accident of history? Were there Canadian DE blades at one point in the past?

I guess I have this question about other places more broadly too — why blades are produced in some places but not others — but was thinking about Canada because I was buying some other stuff from Canada recently.

Scale economies. There are only around twenty DE blade factories worldwide. Canada is a pretty small market. For whatever reason, probably just more manual processes, production was more localized and fragmented seventy years ago. Yes, there were Canadian blades at one point in the 20th century.

Blade Biter
There was a Gillette plant in Montreal until 1989. They made similar products as their Boston factory including Techs, News, New Improved as well as blades.

I've tried their 1986 Super Stainless (Canadian Spoilers), quite a bit sharper than their US counterparts.

Strange to me I wasn't aware of those blades; I was dimly aware of the razors from the past but not the blades.
