BOXING - Tyson vs. Paul - who else is stoked?

Nope. Not even a little bit. This should not be a sanctioned event and that fact that it is, is a nod to the fact that a sanctioning body just wants to make money but, not honor the sport. The same could also be said of Paul. If he wants to be taken seriously, he should fight somebody who is actively ranked at a reasonable level.

Bottom line…Jake Paul is afraid of any real and ranked fighter and Tyson is just making a money grab. I've got no problem with Tyson making a money grab, but Paul...Please try to be relevent, or go away.

I kind of feel like Paul has jumped in the deep end without water wings...

I guess it is an indictment of the current heavyweight scene where there have been no fights, so the void is filled with novelty celeb fights. I don’t really blame the celebs for taking the money when there are no real fights on offer, but the promoters, TV, sponsors and sanctioning bodies should not allow themselves to get involved. The recent Joshua v Ngannou exhibition very nearly turned into a tragedy and they should have stopped this nonsense right there.

I have to say, I am getting more excited by the day.

Watch this video at this link. The two seem to like each other a great deal.

I'm pulling for Mike. But I don't think that he is half the crazy he was years ago. Ya'll better give Jake his props, he's no push over. Intresting to see how Jake takes a real punch.

Not at all to be honest. Liked Tyson in his early years (until he went to prison). Paul is internet creation (though good). Just not my thing.

I like boxing, but I am not really stoked. It does seem like a grossly unsafe, if they are playing it straight, novelty act.

I guess I am sort of stoked to see Tyson in the ring again. Jake Paul does not hold a lot of interest to me. I think the key for Tyson has always been how much he was willing to do in preparation. He does not how to fight and has power still, I think. Whether he still has speed, we shall see. I have no idea about this fight. Hard to predict the outcome and I am not sure I care.

Boxing is a heck of a sport. So much has to come automatically, with speed and power. That takes a lot of training. We shall see.

Such a shame and travesty his career was cut short by going to jail. I never get bored of watching Tyson’s knockout highlights. A phenomenal and most exciting boxer when he was in his prime.

One of the greatest heavyweights of all time. The planned fight with Paul is a total farce.

I tend to think of Tyson as someone who could have been one of the truly greats, but when he lost Cus D'Amato and Don King took over his management, Tyson lost his ability to train with the intensity that was required to maintain his skills at the level he had reached previously, at least for his style, and he could not adapt. His early record was amazing though. And he held the unified title and lost and regained the heavyweight title, which argues for a high ranking in history,

When he was in top shape, he was an amazing fighter, with a very effective style.

I’m not surprised it’s postponed. It reminds me of the Connor vs Floyd fight. It’s all just a money grab. No one actually cares. It’s pure entertainment. Even more so for Jake Paul. The guy is a joke. He can fight sure, but at his core he is a content creator and entertainer. Boxing is just another way for him to earn a buck. Look at who he has fought. If he took it 100% seriously and really wanted to get in to boxing as a career he wouldn’t be fighting celebrities and MMA cross-over fights. Come up through the ranks like the real boxers do, earn your right to fight the best, and put your talents to a real test. He’s a joke in the boxing world IMO and not a real fighter in the sense that Tyson was/is.

The fact that it will be on Netflix should tell us everything we need to know about the fight. Needless to say…I don’t really care in the least if they fight or not.

The Tank Davis versus Frank Martin lightweight bout on June 15 should be much more a real boxing match. Too bad Frank Martin is not supposed to be very good. I think Tank Davis is an amazing boxer. Reminds me of Tyson from back in the day, in a different weight class, of course. He is formidable and has skills.

I guess I do look forward to seeing Tyson actually sort of box again. Heck, for all I know, he may come out the most in shape senior citizen on the planet.
