What's new

Anyone ever try Creed Irish Tweed?

I bought a decant of Green Valley and while I like it very much, it seems to be more of a casual day scent. Which would make sense since it was inspired by a golf course. It smells like early morning fresh cut grass with a twist. GIT can be worn day or evening and all year. I'll give it a try again Thursday, tomorrow I'm trying Pen's Duro.

After seeing this thread revived, I went and spritzed on some GIT this evening. It seems my appreciation for this scent is diminishing over time. It's smelling increasingly modern and somewhat synthetic to me, like a slightly richer cousin of most current designer fragrance fare. It's not horrid by any stretch, but it doesn't have that "it" factor that my favorite scents have. It smells like what I would choose to wear when I want to smell like I'm wearing a fragrance, as opposed to just smelling good.

As for longevity, I sprayed one spritz on my chest, and that's it. That was well over an hour ago, and it practically smells like I just put on

I just re-bought GIT today. My old bottle almost gone and a bit "played out."
Had it about 8 years.

Since I'm a bit of a collector, it hurts to bite the bullet and buy something I've already had, but it is that good.

I'm a big fan of GIT.
Cool Water is very similar, but not the same.

And I must second the notion that GIT gets you a lot of compliments from the ladies. Including Mrs. honed.

Agree with this.

I don't like it much. Very synthetic to my nose. Another downside is that my wife doesn't really care for it. She doesn't hate it, either, she just thinks it's "meh." That pretty much sums up my feelings about it, too.

Interesting. I used GIT recently again and found I liked it more than I remembered. I have never been a super fan.

It seems to smell like lots of other scents, but to me, at base, what is not to like? Does not smell particularly artificial to me, for instance.

Just a follow-up: that single spritz stuck with me throughout the whole evening, no doubt in large part because the shirt I was wearing trapped it. Even after taking the shirt off, though, I could still smell traces of it on myself last night, and even a little this morning, before my shower. The shirt was rife with the scent this morning. Maybe it's just a matter of body chemistry, but it floors me that people say this stuff is weak or doesn't last.

I went back and forth on my feelings about the scent throughout the evening; sometimes I liked it, other times it was annoying me. In smelling that shirt this morning, I liked the smell, but also felt it was just too overt - that dominant green note (for lack of a better term) just screams, "Hey, check out this fragrance I'm wearing!" That isn't the angle I prefer when scenting up.

I tired some GIT yesterday, and considering that I tend to like Creed fragrances, and that once upon a time I wore Cool Water regularly, I was shocked at how much I disliked it. I just got this overwhelming sharp verbena note that didn't fade and was very unpleasant. Oh well, I guess there are worse things than having another high-priced cologne to cross off my list.:biggrin1:

I should mention that, contrary to the Creed company's snooty image and pricing, the sales associates at the Creed boutique in Manhattan were very friendly and helpful.
