What's new

A few pictures of my little collection....

Here's a few shots...finally, sorry they are not the best. I was having a devil of a time shooting through the glass.
There are still some things that I need to put in and some framed ads as well as a complete set of Gillette/Disney paper masks from the 40's.
These are all now on display at my new men's shop. Gentlemens' Best, Southington, Ct. Stop in and have a look and say hi.
Enjoy....

Noice Ray, noice !!!!

You just need a couple more books :biggrin1:

If I'm ever over that way........I'll be there !

Wow, that's stunning. Everything is in excellent/ mint condition. Quite a nice collection/ museum. Nice barber's chair as well...looks very old.

Ray, beautiful display. Also best of luck with the new commercial endeavor. I wish you only the greatest success. I will certainly patronize your store.

Ray - that's mighty impressive.

Congratulations on a really beautiful looking collection.

In the picture of the barber's chair (man, that looks comfortable!), what is the globe-shaped object on the left?

That is a 1925 copper globe towel steamer/warmer. The tray in the bottom held fire coals or ambers that in turn heated the water in the bell shaped water tank and then the steam would work it's way up into the top globe or towel chamber.

I'm more worried about why the Gillette display in pic 1 has grown arms? :scared:

Oh and the globe thing? That's a "steamalator" A Victorian steam producing device that would fit over the head to moistten and soften the beard before lather application.

A fantastic collection, Ray. Why would I expect less from you? I especially like the barber shop . . . That chair looks really great.

Best of luck on your new shop. I'm sorry that I don't generally have occasion to visit your part of the country.

Regards,
Tom

That's an awesome collection Ray. Very, very impressive. I would love to visit you. I may be driving by you on my way to Springfield, Mass for my high school reunion in a month or two.
