So what does everyone perfer cooking in? I personally perfer cast iron skillets, roasting pans, and dutch ovens. I'll also use stainless steel, Pyrex glass, and ceramic coated if I'm steaming, boiling, or cooking something acidic.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
I save cast iron for something's, but won't use them for others. If I am doing curry I stick to aluminum because I don't know how CI takes curry.

My sentiments exactly. Guess we are all throwbacks.

I’m stumped
Another carbon steel user here. I use carbon steel and cast iron.
Stainless steel for pots and anything acidic. Enamel coated cast iron for slow cook chili etc.
Teflon coated just don't last, so I've given up on them.
I don't have any Aluminium cooking stuff but in looking for some new stainless steel pots and pans, I see it is used in a three layer base to help spread the heat. So it may be part of what I cook in soon.

My dutch oven and crock pot got a lot of love through winter and spring. Hoping to use the grill more often. Kind of been slacking on that.

I cook in just about everything, but I like my ceramic coated dutch ovens the most. That's because when I use them I know it's going to be something really good.

Can you smell that braised short rib cooking?

Carbon steel should be on that list, too. That's my first choice.

I've never used carbon steel before, then again this is first time hearing about carbon steel cookware. Does it need to seasoned like cast iron to prevent rust?

I love both cast iron and stainless. I agree, carbon steel should be there too.

There is a correct application for all. I don't cook everything in cast iron, nor would I want to. There are other things I'd rather do in cast iron than stainless. Ceramic covered dutch ovens are awesome too. Don't limit yourself to one type of cookware, just buy decent stuff.
