Polishing compound or greaseless?

For restoration purposes. Meaning taking off rust and pitting is greaseless compound or the colored sticks of polishing compound better? Also what wheel type works the best. The hard sewn or felt or any others???

I don't use greaseless for anything as it's expensive and has a short shelf life. Rust & pitting is best done by hand to avoid over heating the blade. I gently use stick polishing compounds and carnuba wax for polishing scales and sometimes the blade as a very last step with a soft sewn buffing wheel.

Greaseless is very effective for removing rust and pitting from a blade. Just be careful though as it generates a lot of heat and can easily ruin the temper of a razor. I keep my greaseless compound in an airtight contained with a few drops of water sprinkled in occasionally to keep it moist. Works like a charm.
