Making a kamisori style handle for Western Straight -advice?

I have seen a few post, but now can't find them. I have a candidate for putting new scales on, and I thought this would be a cool idea. Advice welcome. Pictures?

I don't know if it would be too hot in practice to have the fixed handle with the long blade.
