What's new

I am a happy camper

I could never figure it out. Are Lorraine Rouges the same stone as La Lunes, or are they some rare form of BBW as some have claimed?

Not the same at all. I think the rouges are layered in between two layers of BBW. Let me look for the PDF that explains all this stuff.

La lune/special stone is a completely exhausted vein of rock, it is still very plausible that ardennes can find more rouge stone. If they were spread out I would have bought both of them. That was a really fantastic example. I basically stole the lune.... It sold for ~ 100-150usd less than it should have and only because the listing was rubbish. I am curious to see what it shares in common and where it differs from my vosgienne.

Nice buy. I missed on one a couple of months back - went for half of what you got this one for - I forgot it was ending.....kicked myself.

We have to divide these....

The Special Stones / La Lune Stones are quarried somewhere in france in one of the Quarries of F. Ghelfi & Birroleau....probably at Merviller...these appear in a metallic green/blue and a light red

The Lorraine Rouge is a kind of a fine Sandstone quarried in the Lorraine region...there are several tradenames around (Fox/Goldfisch, M.P.O.P., Best Hone in the World)

The Rouge Du Salm a certain BBW Layer comes from Belgium...its just a very vine red layer of a BBW...
