It certainly does not look like a replate.
CFM is reportedly expert at buffing, polishing, and applying a very thin coat of oil. I'm not saying the DR was not replated. It might have been, but it is possible that he just made it very shiny in other ways.
BTW, I don't think $268 for a DR in good shape is out of line. Not that long ago, people were paying $500 and up.

Plus you can see minor flaws if you look carefully. To me, it looks like an original Silver plating. And CFM didn't build his reputation lying about replated razors.

i apologise. I wasn't saying that I was sure that it was replated just agreeing with the previous poster.
This razor keeps showing up on ebay and never sells, it is funny and perplexing to look at the pictures...
"Perplexing" is quite the understatement. The baseplate (can I call it that?) is from a British Aristocrat or Popular and the top cap is from a Tech(?). That is not a razor, it is sculpture.
i missed a nice tuckaway on ebay today, i was watching it all week and was distracted this afternoon and missed it by 25 minutes, very bummed out, i have been looking to a nice super clean one for a while and missed out on that one
i remember not long ago these would go for $25 on ebay

That is a mismatched set btw ... The razor is a NEW SC with a bar handle.
If you want a Tuckaway style handle, you probably want a New Improved, or a NEW Deluxe ... right?

Hey nuclearblast, hmmm you are right either the deluxe or new improved would make me very happy, I have a pretty large razor collection but have never owned or run across the tuckaways locally and didn't now enough to catch it was a mismatched set, the links are very helpful thanks.

But since it says Tuckaway it only means it is a case for a New Improved, and not a NEW.

Insanity! $1k for a #22. That is beyond reason!
It may be insane but I'm glad I got mine (with 2 hidden packs of spare blades) for $525.
Can you tell I'm stoked? Love this hobby!Now, this is a razor worth buying: a British Aristocrat #16. Even so, this seems a tad high for something the seller described as "user grade condition." And the seller's excellent pictures back up that description.
