I recently picked up a Buck USA knife with a curved edge. What is the best method to sharpen it. I have a slip stone, but is there a trick?

One of my favorite ways to sharpen recurve blades is also very cheap!
One 9" length of 2" diameter pvc pipe
Sheets of good quality wet/dry sand paper from 220 to however high you want, but I prefer stopping at 400 grit at the lowest.
Cut the pvc pipe lengthwise so you have two half round section. Take your paper and wrap around the outside of the half pipe and lay the flat side on the bench. Now you have a bench "stone" for recurves! I prefer to use the paper wet, but if just doing quick touch up a few passes on dry paper isn't going to be an issue.
