Antique Store Pick-up, where to have honed?

A bit of an impulse buy for me today while at antique store.

I have been lurking on the Straights forum for a while, but not made the jump until now.

Blade reads: Extra Hollow Ground, Lenox Cutlery Germany.

It came in the red box, which I don't believe to be original based on research i've done this afternoon.

How would I go about getting this thing shave ready? Thanks all!

I'm guessing he misunderstood a statement made which was then edited out because it was confusing (something about a 7 day set).

I would send it to an experienced honer to be prepped. If you don't find someone on this board, check StraightRazorPlace (they have service vendors listed), or Lynn Abrams at StraightRazorDesigns.com. Unless the edge is damaged, I think they all charge about $25 for standard honing. Some more if bevel reset is required. More yet if some level of restoration is needed.

A better macro photo of the whole edge might allow some comments on what it will likely take to get it up and running.

Generally if you rub someone the right way here, they'll volunteer a free honing for a new user. They're pretty decent chaps, most of them.

$25 to hone a razor without even resetting the bevel? You sure? That's robbery.
