Leather care for an odd leather

I've got a pair of Born Chelsea boots that I really like. They are kind of an odd leather, not smooth, not exactly suede either. I'm not sure what to treat them with. They are looking a little tired and need something. I tried kiwi suede cleaner, and it didn't do much. Could I hit them with the mink oil I use on my Docs?

I have successfully used mink oil to treat several types of leather, your miles may vary. I would try on a small invisible spot first.

They might be nubuck, which is a matt effect, halfway between suede and std leather. If you are too vigorous with a brush they might get inappropriately shiny. I had success with a couple of wallets using a good quality lip balm- seriously. Get the best one you can find and apply an extremely thin coat evenly, then allow to sink into the leather overnight. If you're as lucky as me, there won't even be a residue to shine off.
