No confusion at all.

That is indeed the right word to describe most 20th century presidencies (Oligarchy if you include the 'men behind the throne'). Most early prezes (Lincoln excepted) were very restrained in the powers they claimed when compared to the last dozen and a half. Alright, I'll hold off bestowing the title to Coolidge and Harding and maybe Ike but every other modern CE has deliberately sought to expand the powers of the office and the ability to make binding law outside of congress - in short Dicktators.
