Post Your Pictures: Japanese Razors

Mine doesn't show "Super" anywhere. It has

"45 (model number?) IT'S A FIRST QUALITY RAZOR GOOD FOR PRO."

On the front of the tang (nothing on the blade), and

"Kikuboshi" (in script almost) several Kanji, and a cool interlaced pattern on the back of the tang (on front also).

Interesting also is that yours is jimped on the spine side of the tang, and mine on the blade side.

Exceptional shave though, yes.

I don't know if there is. But it seems kikuboshi's top razors are the supreme special and golden. I know my special is an amazing razor. It's also the one I grab most often being a better razor than even my ERN 1910.

Here’s a photo of my Atlas razor. It’s such a stunner with those scales.

Anyone familiar with this makers mark? Might be partially rubbed off

The letters engraved are "竹/Take" means bamboo and "丸/Maru" means circle, round or whole.

The letter “Maru” was widely used before the Edo period as the letter at the end of a name of a boy who had not yet completed an adult ritual or personal attribute like swords, musical instruments, horses and ships.
It is a name given in hope of protection and help with the power from outside of the mortal world.
Taking into account the high infant mortality rate in ancient times, we can understand that it was a serious prayer of the old people.

This habit can be seen even today especially in ship names.
