Canucks just pulled off a big win. Pulled our 3rd goalie in the playoffs with 3 minutes left in the 3rd down 3-1. Boessr scores to make it 3-2, then gets a hat trick with seconds left to send it into OT. We close it out to steal the game in the first minute of OT.. 4-1 and heading back to Vancouver up 3-1 in the series. Praise Ullr!

just one more win! wishing you luck bud. hope to see you in the second round!

I played hockey in high school and college in New England. At that time we were all sucked on to the ice by Bobby Ore & the big bad B's . So it is in the blood. Tough great fast moving game and sure it is not a game for everyone. We will see how far the B's can go. There are a lot of great teams out , so the best will win period.
Lived in Canada for a few years, so my passion crosses the borders for teams.
Keep your stick on the ice..
Shave before every game..

That was a hell of a finish. The Preds were hitting everything and controlling the game. Canucks came together in the second half of the 3rd. They also got a LOT of help from the Preds hitting the post on the empty netter.

It wasn't a pretty game, but they stuck with it.

Not as flat as the Jets.

We have been stinking it up.
I didn't know we are rooting for opposite ends of the ice here. Just know that anytime the Avs aren't in it anymore I'm always pulling for anything Canadian in the playoffs. I hope that doesn't sound lame.

Now where's that NBA playoff thread. I won't feel bad ribbing a Lakers fan or two.

It was ugly. Preds are probably still thinking what just happened? Deflating, but good for us. I really thought that game was over for us. What a finish! Go Canucks!

Looked like there were more than a few crushed fans in Nashville last night. So close to closing the game out, hit a post on an empty net, then went on to lose in OT. Hopefully the Canucks can finish it off next game in Vancouver.

Not looking too good for the Jets or Leafs at this point, though I haven't watched too much of those game.

I believe my crystal ball tells me this is the year for the Oilers to win the Cup!

"Every Game, Every Night, Because It's the Cup"!!! NBC Playoff Slogan

I was a hockey fan from the mid-60s until the late 90s, and had a subscription to the weekly Hockey News until the late 90s. I was a NY Ranger, and a Fotiu, Tie Dome fan. After the Rangers won the cup, expansion, greed, free agency, helmets, face masks, and foreign player names I could no longer pronounce, ruined hockey for me, like every other sport.

I did lose a bit of interest in NHL for a while but would really enjoy the World Junior's. Have been back into it for a few years, it's a good game now, fast and physical. Less fighting for sure, but it was fun to watch Matt Rempe burst into the league and fight everyone.

I appreciate Domi too, and Max has turned into a decent player. Every so often I rewatch Probert fights on YouTube for a fight fix.

My oldest, in her early teen years, had a crush on Phil Esposito. I told her to write him a letter and ask for a picture. She did, and he sent her an autographed photo. She's now in her early 50s, but as far as we know still has that photo. That was cool on Phil's part. She loved getting it at the time.

I empathize with your point you express with greed and expansion. I can't imagine playing the game today without facemasks or HELMETS (for crying out loud). Today's players are bigger and faster. It will always be a dangerous game and I am glad to see progress where the players safety is, somewhat, prioritized. I don't understand the intolerance for "foreign" players. [Begin Sarcasm Italics] I mean Mario Lemieux ain't from 'round here, but I can pronounce Wayne Gretzky.

I apologize @njpaddy , you definitely lost me at Tie Domi. If your hockey heroes track 3 to 1 fighting majors (333) vs. goals (104) you enjoy different aspects of the game than I do. I'll concede his philanthropy since, and I wholeheartedly recognize the need for an enforcer, but he was brutal and would resort to any dirty **** to instigate a fight. Much respect, but here I suppose our mileage does vary. And that's absolutely OK.

All that being said, go Edmonton!!! It's about damn time the cup spent a year in Canada, Eh.

I DO miss the open ice hit, although not banned, too much head hit risk.

I wonder what Lindros or Kariya REALLY could have done without Stevens nearly killing them with head hits.

I hear you. I wasn't a fan of the Broad Street Bullies in their heyday either. Yes, Domi was a nutjob, but he did make games less boring for Ranger fans for a year or two. It was Hockey News, I think, that once posted a cartoon of Domi skating past 3 players with his stick held high, ripping their faces off. The caption was, "I take 3 faces off". I still remember that cartoon. His Wiki is something else. I forgot about most of those incidents.

My favorite hockey was in the mid to late 1970s watching the Montreal teams with LaFleur. Fast, no helmets, with fewer penalties. Hockey as it was meant to be played (IMO). Since then, expansion diluted the talent, helmets made the game more chippy, and additional cable tv fees for hockey games was the final straw for me.
