Need a new camera

MarkM10431, I believe that Capture NX-D is free too. The link below indicates it is free.
From looking at the Nikon website, it looks like Capture-NX2 is paid software available for a 60 day trial.

Correct, but note that the development of CNX2 ended more than 2 years ago, i. e., the software isn't able to read the NEF/RAW data from all Nikon DSLR D810 and newer. CNX2 was replaced by CNX-D, but one must admit that CNX-D is not half as powerful as CNX2 used to be. The reason was that CNX2 was originally developed by Nik Software. When Nik was taken over by Google, the new owner successively stopped the development of all Nik software except Snapseed for Android. Therefore, Nikon asked SilkyPix, a Japanese software maker, to develop a new RAW developer for them, which was then launched as CNX-D.
